Hollyhock
Even as her
autumn seeds
fall from bundles
dry and brown
new blooms twist
their rosy crowns
from parcels green
and seedlings
from the summer bounty
populate the icy ground.
Though mortals
fret
as golden summer days
go cold and gray
cheerful Hollyhock
has already laid
a foundation bold
for new season's growth
and future glory
replacing old.
